Sewing Floor Efficiency Enhancement Programme for Supervisors, Technicians and Sewing Instructors

What is special about this Course?

The programme is designed to greatly improve the productivity of your factory by training your technician, supervisor, or instructor to:

  • Devise an intensive machinist training programme thereby reducing the time needed for recruits to start producing to the required performance levels and your customers’ quality standards.
  • Improve productivity by examining handling skills (methods), low-cost work aids and workplace layout.
  • Realise the potential of low performers. How many low performers tie up to your valuable machinery?
  • Develop operator skills, to improve their ability to cope with style change, and changes of operation.
  • Create an effective selection of potential machinists at interview, by using the trainability test devised for sewing instructors.
  • Retain expensively trained staff by better induction and a more intensive training plan.

The primary challenge in introducing a new style to the production lines in the apparel industry lies in the prolonged throughput time, largely attributed to the training and correction process for operators to meet the required speed and quality standards. A critical bottleneck emerges due to the scarcity of technicians or supervisors proficient in strategically and effectively instructing and training operators in adopting new skills. The art of guiding a production line and training operators with a scientific approach is known by only a handful of individuals.

If these instructions are not imparted most appropriately, using correct techniques right from the outset, rectifying an operator's performance in subsequent attempts becomes a formidable challenge. Ineffectual methods not only diminish operational efficiency but also give rise to quality concerns. In this context, the significance of having skilled trainers or instructors surpasses that of having skilled operators.

An optimal solution to expedite the learning curve and enhance production efficiency involves a strategic focus on upgrading the teaching and training skills of technicians and supervisors. By equipping these key personnel with improved methodologies and instructional techniques, the industry can minimize the time required for operators to adapt, thereby mitigating inefficiencies and bolstering overall production effectiveness.
